SUBJECT:
Cave Origins

A "cave" is created when sugar cubes, beneath a layer of modeling clay, become saturated with water. Create A Cave may be conducted as a whole class activity or you may secure additional materials and have the students work in groups. After the groups complete the activity, have them compare their caves and its unique features. Each cave will be different.

Students will observe, predict, and describe the "passage-ways" which are formed by the dissolution of limestone when caves are formed by nature.
