SUBJECT:
Cave Biology
This activity may be conducted as a whole class or as a cooperative group activity. The students roll a ball from three different pre-marked places of origin. When the ball hits the wall the students will be able to determine from which of the pre-determined places the ball was rolled. This exercise simulates a bat's echolocation ability.
Students will play a game that simulates how bats use echolocation to maneuver within a cave environment and to determine the location of potential prey. (Adaptations enable species to live in the cave environment.)
